Contest Seeks Ideas to Prevent Falls at Construction Sites...Grand Prize Worth 5 Million Won

[Financial News] The government is seeking ideas and best practices to raise safety awareness at construction sites and prevent falls in ways that can be applied in the field.
On the 6th, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) announced that it would jointly hold the “Construction Fall Accident Prevention Content Contest” with the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL), accepting entries from the 14th through the 13th of next month.
The contest is jointly overseen by the Korea Authority of Land & Infrastructure Safety, the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA), the Korea Construction Engineers Association, and the Construction Workers Mutual Aid Association. Anyone interested in preventing falls at construction sites may participate.
The contest has two categories: promotional videos, including short-form content, and policy proposals or best practices.
The promotional video category seeks entries that present information on preventing falls—such as how to use safety facilities and precautions to take while working—in ways that are accessible to the public. Entries may also highlight hazards at construction sites and encourage workers to follow safety rules on their own.
The policy proposal and best-practice category accepts policy ideas for reducing falls, including improvements to working environments and the application of new technologies. Participants may also submit cases that were applied at actual construction sites and produced results in preventing accidents or improving safety management. Submissions should be prepared as presentation materials of no more than 10 pages, using the form provided on the contest website.
Applications and entries can be submitted through the contest website. The government plans to select the final winners after expert evaluations and a public verification process for plagiarism.
A total of 16 entries will receive awards in December. Four grand-prize winners will receive awards from the ministers of MOLIT and MOEL, with two awards presented by each ministry, along with 5 million won per entry. Twelve excellence-prize winners will receive awards from the heads of the relevant organizations and 1 million won per entry.
