Gyeongbuk Provincial Council Strengthens Legislative Capabilities Through Assembly Member Training

[Financial News Andong = Reporter Kim Jang-wook] The Gyeongbuk Provincial Council is making all-out efforts to strengthen its legislative capabilities.
The Gyeongbuk Provincial Council successfully held the '2026 Gyeongbuk Provincial Council Members' Training Workshop' for all members at Lahan Hotel Pohang from the 3rd to the 4th.
This training session focused on actively responding to the rapidly changing administrative environment and local issues, enhancing the expertise of assembly members in legislative activities such as anti-corruption and integrity, prevention of the four major types of violence, and rehabilitation procedures, while also strengthening the capacity for legislative activities in standing committees.
Chairperson Kim Hee-soo emphasized, "I hope this assembly training session serves as an opportunity to further enhance the expertise and policy capabilities of the members and to listen more attentively to the voices of the provincial residents," adding, "We will do our utmost to become a studious assembly that finds answers on the ground and creates policies that provide tangible help to the lives of the residents."
In addition, they held special lectures by field to strengthen the professional knowledge and policy capabilities necessary for legislative activities, exchanged opinions on major pending issues of the provincial administration, and explored various ways to effectively reflect the voices of the residents in policies.
In the first lecture of the training session, Presiding Judge Lee Jonggil of the Daegu Rehabilitation Court spoke on the topic of "Introduction to the Daegu Rehabilitation Court and Criminal Procedures." He introduced the role and key functions of the Daegu Rehabilitation Court and delivered a lecture designed to help participants easily understand court litigation procedures encountered in daily life.
Following this, Jung Soo-hyo, an instructor at the Integrity Training Institute of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC), took the stage as the second speaker and delivered a lecture on the Anti-Graft Act and the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act, with the aim of enhancing the integrity of local council members and strengthening their accountability to residents.
On the second day, Instructor Jung Yong-nam conducted prevention training on the four major types of violence under the theme "Safe Legislative Activities Opened by Respect." This training focused on a healthy organizational culture that respects and cares for one another.
Finally, to strengthen field-oriented legislative activities, we visited the Pohang Accelerator Laboratory and the RIST Incubating Center to examine the progress of projects and spent time discussing policy directions for regional development and the improvement of residents' lives.
Pohang Accelerator Laboratory is a world-class research infrastructure that has supported the development of basic science and advanced industries. Through its 3rd and 4th generation radiation accelerators, it conducts cutting-edge research at universities, research institutes, and industries, and is producing outstanding results in various fields such as new materials, semiconductors, bio, and energy.
Furthermore, the RIST Incubating Center is equipped with advanced manufacturing infrastructure, including a large manufacturing facility capable of continuous processes, playing a role in connecting manufacturing startups to product development, commercialization, and corporate growth. This helps bridge the growth gap for manufacturing startups and promotes the commercialization of research and development results.
Meanwhile, the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council plans to continue operating various education and training programs to enhance the expertise of its members, and strive to establish an image of a working council that creates hope for the residents with the strength of Gyeongbuk through legislative activities that involve research and communication.
