JW Pharmaceutical Corporation announced on the 4th that it held the “Dangbu, Statin” in-house campaign with employees at its headquarters in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province.
“Dangbu, Statin” is a campaign designed to clearly explain information that patients with dyslipidemia need to check during treatment and to improve understanding of disease management and statin treatment.
During the campaign, employees used a checklist on the campaign website to review their cardiovascular risk factors and LDL cholesterol treatment targets. They also examined content covering blood sugar, muscle, and liver health information that should be checked while taking statins, as well as methods for treating and managing dyslipidemia.
Dyslipidemia is a condition in which blood cholesterol or triglyceride levels become elevated, and it is closely associated with the risk of cardiovascular disease. However, because it often causes no clear symptoms, many people find it difficult to recognize the need for consistent treatment and management.
A recent survey by JW Pharmaceutical Corporation of Korean patients with dyslipidemia who had experience taking statins found differences in their awareness of the need to continue treatment. The survey also found that exposure to information about statin-related side effects, such as changes in blood sugar, sometimes influenced decisions to delay or discontinue treatment.
Taking these circumstances into account, JW Pharmaceutical Corporation organized the campaign to help employees first understand dyslipidemia and statin treatment and encourage them to join efforts to share that information with patients.
A JW Pharmaceutical Corporation official said, “Dangbu, Statin is a campaign designed to help patients with dyslipidemia understand their condition and continue treatment consistently through consultations with medical professionals.” The official added, “To mark this Cholesterol Day, our employees personally reviewed their cardiovascular risk factors and treatment targets and shared the significance of the campaign.”
Meanwhile, JW Pharmaceutical Corporation has a portfolio of dyslipidemia treatments, including Livalo, a pitavastatin product launched in South Korea in 2005, and Livalojet.
