Busan Customs to Operate 24-Hour Customs Clearance System During Chuseok Holiday

[Financial News] The Korea Customs Service is launching a special support team for import and export customs clearance ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
Busan Headquarters Customs announced on the 4th that it will implement special measures for import and export customs clearance during the Chuseok holiday for 20 days starting on the 7th. The special support team will operate a 24-hour customs clearance system, including holidays and nighttime hours, to ensure the timely supply of holiday-demand goods and urgently needed raw and subsidiary materials.
It will also promptly process requests to extend shipping periods during the holiday to prevent companies from being fined for delays in loading export cargo. To protect the public’s food safety, inspections will be strengthened for imported food products considered highly likely to fail quarantine inspections.
Customs duty refunds will also receive special support. To ease the financial burden on small and medium-sized exporters, refund payments will be made on the same day applications are submitted for 13 days starting on the 10th. Operating hours will be extended until 8 p.m., and applications submitted after banks close will be processed so that refunds can be issued promptly the following morning.
A Busan Customs official said, "Regional import and export companies and the public are facing difficult circumstances due to the high volatility of the global trade environment. We will provide 24-hour support for import and export logistics at the Port of Busan during the Chuseok holiday and help local companies secure liquidity through practical customs administration support, including prompt customs duty refunds."
