[Financial News]  Yulchon LLC has recruited Kim Hyeong-bae, a former standing commissioner of the Korea Fair Trade Commission and former president of the Korea Fair Trade Mediation Agency, as an adviser. The move is aimed at strengthening the firm’s fair-trade advisory services by adding an expert with outstanding practical and theoretical expertise in the field.
After passing the 34th Higher Civil Service Examination and entering public service, Kim Hyeong-bae devoted more than 30 years to the fair-trade sector. He is an expert in developing and enforcing fair-trade policy. He served as head of the Market Monitoring Bureau, head of the Cartel Investigation Bureau, and Director General for Market Structure Improvement Policy, all key positions within the Korea Fair Trade Commission’s case-related organization, before becoming a standing commissioner.
During his tenure at the Korea Fair Trade Commission, he directly participated in investigations and deliberations involving major cases, including abuse of market-dominant positions by large domestic and foreign companies, major domestic and international cartel cases, unfair support and private-benefit extraction, domestic and international merger reviews, platform issues, technology misappropriation under the Subcontracting Act, and large-scale retail business.
He also served as the fifth president of the Korea Fair Trade Mediation Agency, where he contributed to providing remedies for damages suffered by small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners, promoting a culture of voluntary fair-trade compliance, and advancing the fair-trade mediation system.
