DPK leader Kim Min-seok said at an on-site DPK Supreme Council meeting held in Chungcheongnam-do on the 4th, "Chungcheongnam-do Governor Park Soo-hyun offered several proposals, including the second phase of public institution relocation to Naepo New Town and attracting the integrated headquarters of five power-generation public enterprises to Chungcheongnam-do." He added, "I will listen carefully and seek ways to move forward."
Kim also commented on the public institution relocation and functional reform measures announced by the government the previous day, saying, "We will accelerate the process so that it can succeed in practice, ensure that the relocations proceed smoothly, and actively seek ways for employees of the relocated institutions and residents of the host regions to prosper together."
DPK floor leader Han Byung-do also emphasized, "We will begin pilot relocations next year," adding, "We will support Chungcheongnam-do in becoming an innovation hub where public institutions, regional industries and universities grow together."
The government had announced the previous day five key principles for the second phase of public institution relocation, including minimizing institutions’ remaining in the Seoul metropolitan area and concentrating institutions around existing innovation cities.
