Rally Concentrated in Samsung Electronics and SK hynix...Mixed Performance Even as KOSPI Gains 1% [Financial News Morning Market Update]

[Financial News] The KOSPI Composite Index is up more than 1% amid net buying by foreign investors and institutions. While large-cap semiconductor stocks such as Samsung Electronics and SK hynix are showing strength, KOSDAQ has pared back its early gains and fallen below the 800 mark.
As of 10:23 a.m. on the 4th, the KOSPI Composite Index stood at 6,657.23, up 77.75 points, or 1.18%, from the previous trading day. The index opened at 6,654.36 and climbed as high as 6,682.61 during the session before giving back some of its gains.
Foreign investors and institutions are leading buying in the KOSPI market. At the same time, foreign investors had made net purchases worth 260.1 billion won, while institutions had bought a net 582.2 billion won. Individuals, by contrast, were recording net sales worth 1.1781 trillion won. Among institutions, financial investment firms had made net purchases of 392.2 billion won, while pension funds and others had bought a net 150.7 billion won.
Among the largest stocks by market capitalization, Samsung Electronics was trading at 254,000 won, up 1.60% from the previous trading day. SK hynix was up 2.94% at 1.643 million won. Naver, SK Square, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and Hyundai Motor were also higher, gaining 1.93%, 1.83%, 1.38% and 0.13%, respectively.
Samsung C&T, down 3.36%, KB Financial Group, down 2.53%, Shinhan Financial Group, down 1.83%, Samsung Biologics, down 1.49%, LG Energy Solution, down 1.09%, and Kia, down 0.63%, were lower. Doosan Enerbility, Celltrion and Hyundai Mobis were unchanged.
By sector, electrical and electronics, machinery and equipment, and IT services were up 1.95%, 1.73% and 1.72%, respectively. However, despite the index’s rise, 441 stocks were lower on the KOSPI market, compared with 408 gainers. The large-cap index rose 1.31%, while the mid-cap index fell 0.50%, highlighting the divergence in performance.
At the same time, KOSDAQ stood at 799.90, up 9.69 points, or 1.23%, from the previous trading day. The index opened at 802.32 and rose as high as 810.36 during the session, but pared back its gains and fell below the 800 mark.
