Yeongwol County to Fully Launch Stay-Oriented Tourism Program Linking Major Attractions

【Financial News Yeongwol=Kim Ki-seop】Yeongwol County will unveil a stay-oriented tourism program linking major attractions around the Yeongwol Tourism Center ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
According to Yeongwol County on the 4th, the Cheongnyeongpowon circular sightseeing train, a sightseeing tram departing from the Yeongwol Tourism Center, an indoor laser survival experience center, and the “Danjong Guardians” visit-verification program will open before the Chuseok holiday. The program was designed to encourage tourists to stay longer by connecting Cheongnyeongpowon, Jangneung Royal Tomb, and Kkaebigul.
The 45-seat sightseeing train will circulate within Cheongnyeongpowon, allowing visitors to tour key areas of the local garden. The sightseeing tram connecting the Yeongwol Tourism Center with the riverside detention basin and the area near Kkaebigul will initially operate with one 22-seat car. Its capacity will be expanded based on demand, and a barrier-free vehicle will be added by the end of the year. The fare during the trial period is 2,000 won.
An indoor laser survival experience center will be installed on the first floor of the Yeongwol Tourism Center. Each game lasts about seven minutes, and the admission fee is 5,000 won during the trial operation through the end of this year. The second floor will be reorganized as a sales area where visitors can purchase local food products and tourism souvenirs in one place. At Kkaebigul near Jangneung Royal Tomb, walls featuring goblin legends and lighting, along with light-emitting diode (LED) lights, will be installed to enhance the attractions and connect the site with the sightseeing tram route.
Danjong Guardians can be joined by scanning QR codes at the sites without a separate application. Participants complete the mission by finding figures from Yeongwol’s history and legends—including Danjong of Joseon, Queen Jeongsun, Eom Heung-do, Kim Sat-gat, and goblins—and visiting five of 23 tourist attractions. Those who complete the mission will receive a free admission ticket to one of the Yeongwol Tourism Center’s video theater or exhibition hall, the sightseeing train, or the laser survival experience center.
Jo Won-hyeok, head of Yeongwol County’s Tourism Development Team, said, “We will introduce the new programs—from the Cheongnyeongpowon circular train to the sightseeing tram and laser survival—in one place.” He added, “We will address areas for improvement during the second-half trial operation and establish a reasonable fare system, including an integrated fee system for the facilities.”
