LG announced on the 4th that it will hold 'LG SPARK 2026' at LG Sciencepark in Magok, Seoul, from the 7th to the 17th.
'LG SPARK' is LG's largest annual event for sharing its technological innovation achievements. After LG Sciencepark was established in 2018, technology innovation events previously held separately by each affiliate were consolidated under 'LG SPARK' in 2023. About 60,000 people attended last year's event.
Beginning this year, the event has been reorganized around AI. Over two weeks, LG will hold five programs in succession: LG Tech Fair, LG AX Fair, LG AI Talk Concert, LG AI DevCon and Culture Week.
The 'LG Tech Fair,' held on the 7th and 8th, will showcase 41 innovative technologies from LG affiliates. This year, LG has also established a new 'One LG' core technology category that brings together the key capabilities of its affiliates. It will present 13 new technologies in three major fields: physical AI, AI data centers (AIDCs) and automotive components.
In the physical AI field, LG Electronics will unveil technology that links its home robot 'CLOiD' with AI appliances to autonomously perform tasks such as cleaning, air management and item delivery. In the AIDC field, it will introduce hybrid bonding equipment for semiconductors that enhances AI chip performance and high-heat-dissipation adhesive film (NCF). In the automotive components field, it will showcase next-generation variable-transparency film for vehicles and hairpin motors.
LG will also unveil 28 technologies in the ABC fields—AI, bio and cleantech—which LG CEO Koo Kwang-mo has emphasized as future growth engines. In AI, it will present an advertising customer-targeting technology based on a 'behavior foundation model' that predicts behavior in the home. In bio, it will showcase a hair-loss-care material, while in cleantech it will introduce next-generation technologies that improve battery performance and safety.
The 'LG AX Fair,' held on the 10th and 11th, will share 68 cases of AI applied to actual work. The cases span various areas, including development; sales and marketing; production and quality; and strategy and planning.
LG Electronics will showcase an AI system that verifies compliance issues in marketing content, while LG Innotek will present vision AI that detects safety and environmental risks. LG Chem will introduce an AI agent that supports R&D projects from planning through validation, and LG Uplus will unveil technology that optimizes the token costs of AI models.
The 'LG AI Talk Concert,' held on the 14th and 15th, will introduce LG's AI vision and industry-specific applications of its proprietary AI, EXAONE. LG plans to share cases and results from EXAONE's adoption in actual industrial settings, as well as its future AI development plans.
The 'LG AI DevCon' will follow on the 15th and 16th. The event expands the existing 'LG SDC,' which focused on software developers, to include AI developers. This year, developers from global tech giants including NVIDIA, Google, Amazon and Microsoft will participate and share the latest AI technologies and trends with LG employees.
LG will also hold the AI development competition 'LG Prompt-a-thon Challenge 2026.' The 10 finalist teams will use EXAONE and prompts to develop services that solve problems arising in LG products and services, as well as in everyday life and work. LG plans to consider turning outstanding entries into actual services.
Soo-hyun Chung, CEO of LG Sciencepark, said, "LG Sciencepark is a space where researchers leading the industry's AI development come together and create LG's future innovations through Winning Tech and One LG. Through 'LG SPARK,' where AI technology and culture come together, we will work to create innovative products and services that make a significant contribution to our customers' lives."
