[Financial News] CJ ENM is targeting U.S. viewers with a 24-hour K-content channel where they can watch Korean dramas and films, as well as K-pop, for free.
On the 4th, CJ ENM announced that it would expand its partnership with Amazon Prime Video and broaden the reach of K-content in the United States through FAST (free ad-supported streaming TV).
The company will launch two branded FAST channels: CJ ENM K-Stories, featuring CJ ENM’s major dramas and films, and CJ ENM K-Pop, featuring music and performance content. Both channels will operate 24 hours a day and be available to watch for free with advertising on Amazon Prime Video.
During the first month after launch, viewers will be able to watch hit titles including the dramas The K2, Her Private Life and Tale of the Nine-Tailed, as well as the films Veteran and Exit. CJ ENM K-Pop will feature the MPD FanCam series and various K-pop music programs, centered on content produced by CJ ENM’s digital music studio M2. The content lineups for both channels will be refreshed every month.
Kim Do-hyeon, head of CJ ENM’s Content Distribution Business Unit, said, "Through the FAST channels, viewers can conveniently enjoy CJ ENM’s popular dramas, films and music content at no additional cost." He added, "This is also meaningful because it allows us to introduce CJ ENM’s diverse library content and hidden gems—content that has been difficult to access through existing streaming platforms—in a new way."
The launch of the FAST channels is particularly significant because it enables CJ ENM to expand FAST distribution through Amazon Prime Video and make greater use of its library content.
