[Financial News] LG will hold a large-scale AI event to share its AI technology and business achievements with global tech giants and its affiliates.
LG announced on the 4th that it will host ‘LG SPARK 2026,’ an AI innovation, technology and culture festival, at LG Sciencepark in Magok, Seoul, from the 7th to the 17th.
This year’s LG SPARK will focus on expanding AI transformation (AX) cases across its affiliates. Global tech giants including NVIDIA, Google, Amazon and Microsoft will participate and share the latest AI technology trends and use cases with LG employees. The initiative is designed to bring together AI technologies and their applications in the workplace to strengthen AI competitiveness across One LG.
The event will feature five programs: LG Tech Fair (7–8), LG AX Fair (10–11), LG AI Talk Concert (14–15), LG AI DevCon (15–16), and Culture Week (15–17).
At LG Tech Fair, which opens on the 7th, LG will unveil 41 innovative technologies related to future industries. This year, it has added a new One LG category that brings together the core capabilities of its affiliates and will showcase 13 new technologies in three areas: physical AI, AI data centers (AIDCs), and automotive components.
In the physical AI category, LG will exhibit technology that connects the home robot CLOiD with AI appliances so they can autonomously perform tasks such as cleaning, air management and delivering items. In the AIDC category, it will introduce technologies designed to improve AI semiconductor performance, including hybrid bonding equipment for semiconductors and high-heat-dissipation adhesive films (NCF). In the automotive components category, LG will unveil next-generation transparent-control films (SGF) and hairpin motors for vehicles.
The exhibition will also feature 28 technologies in future business areas such as AI, bio and cleantech (ABC). In AI, LG will present an advertising customer-targeting technology based on a behavioral foundation model that predicts behavior in the home. In bio, it will showcase a hair-loss care material. In cleantech, LG will unveil next-generation technology that improves battery performance and safety at the same time.
At LG AX Fair, held from the 10th to the 11th, LG will present 68 AX cases applied to actual work, including development, sales and marketing, production and quality, and strategy and planning.
LG Electronics will introduce an AI system that verifies compliance issues in marketing content, while LG Innotek will present vision AI that detects safety and environmental risks. LG Chem will unveil an AI agent that supports R&D project planning through verification, and LG Uplus will introduce technology that optimizes the token costs of AI models.
From the 14th to the 15th, LG AI Research will use the LG AI Talk Concert to present industry-specific adoption cases and achievements involving its proprietary AI model EXAONE, along with its future AI development plans. The AI Talk Concert, previously held as a separate event, has been integrated into the LG SPARK program starting this year.
LG affiliates and developers from global tech giants including NVIDIA, Google, Amazon and Microsoft will participate in LG AI DevCon, held from the 15th to the 16th. The event is a revamped version of LG SDC, with participation expanded beyond software developers to include AI developers.
The LG Promptathon Challenge 2026 will also be held, where participants develop services that can be applied to actual work using EXAONE and prompts. The 10 teams that advance to the finals will develop EXAONE-based services to solve problems arising from LG products and services, as well as everyday life and work processes. LG will also consider applying outstanding entries to actual services.
Culture Week, the final part of the event, will take place from the 15th to the 17th, with participation from employees and their families, university students and local residents.
LG researchers will serve as mentors in a Discovery Tour for 50 university students interested in careers in AI. Experiential programs such as the EXAONE Drawing Challenge, an AI short film festival and an AI photo booth will also be offered.
LG SPARK was launched in 2023 by integrating technology innovation events held separately by its affiliates. About 60,000 people participated last year. Approximately 25,000 people, including R&D staff from LG affiliates such as LG Electronics, LG Display, LG Innotek, LG Chem, LG Energy Solution, LG Household & Health Care and LG Uplus, as well as partners and startup representatives, work at LG Sciencepark, where the event is held.
