Jeonnam Library to Host Diverse Reading Culture Events for First 'Reading Month' Since Integration

【Financial News Jeonnam-Gwangju = Reporter Hwang Tae-jong】Jeonnam Library will host a variety of reading culture events throughout September under the theme "With Books" to mark its first "September Reading Month" since the launch of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City.
The events aim to expand citizens' opportunities to enjoy reading culture and strengthen the library's role as a cultural space where people connect through books.
First, through the 30th, Namdo Gallery on the first floor will display pop-up books, books created through library programs, and poetry artwork by deaf people in Jeonnam under the theme "Living Books, Books That Were Born, and Illustrated Poetry." Visitors can also take part in a pop-up card-making activity during the exhibition.
The performance program will feature "Classical Music with Books" on the 12th, a music performance for children and teenagers on the 19th, and "I Am a Cat" on the 20th.
Author lectures will also continue. At the Forest of Wisdom Civic Lectures, authors Im Seung-su and Koo Bon-kwon will speak on writing and the age of AI, respectively. A meeting with "Cloud Factory" author Yoo Ji-woo is also scheduled.
In addition, Oh Chan-ho, author of "Flat Words," will give a traveling lecture on this year's selected book at Gwangyang Geumho Library and Damyang Library of the Special City Office of Education.
Participatory programs will also be offered, including fairy-tale writing, creating picture books with AI, making book covers from discarded banners, and screenings of films based on books.
Library benefits will also be expanded. Throughout September, the borrowing limit will increase from 10 to 15 books, while the loan period will be extended from 14 to 21 days. Borrowing suspensions will be lifted when overdue books are returned, and a total of 400 donated books will be distributed free of charge every Tuesday.
