[Financial News] According to the 2026 Overseas Hallyu Survey conducted by the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange, India’s favorability toward Korean Wave content stood at 83.8%, ranking among the highest in the world after the Philippines. Building on this favorable environment, K-content is stepping up efforts to enter the Indian market of 1.47 billion people.
On the 4th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) announced that they had held KOR–IND K-Content BizWeek 2026 for three days, from August 31 to September 2, at the Hyatt Regency Delhi in New Delhi, India. The event laid the groundwork for exchanges between content companies from the two countries and provided practical business cooperation opportunities.
As part of support for market-specific business partnerships, 20 Korean content companies and 67 Indian content companies took part. The event produced 329 export consultations, consultation deals worth $28.81 million (approximately 39.2 billion won, based on an exchange rate of 1,360 won per dollar), three export contracts, and 31 memorandums of understanding.
IP pitches from 10 Korean content companies

On the first day, KRAFTON India executive Lee Min-woo, Samil PwC managing director KyuJin Kim, and KOCCA India Business Center director Kim Young-soo spoke in succession at the India Market Entry Strategy Forum. The forum was designed to help Korean content companies better understand the Indian market.
The Spotlight on K-IP program, an intellectual property pitching session featuring 10 Korean content companies, followed. Companies from four sectors—animation, characters, broadcasting, and games—introduced their flagship and upcoming content and presented potential business cooperation opportunities to Indian buyers.
In particular, three Korean content companies—New Universe, Sharebox, and Contents Sero—attracted the attention of Indian buyers by introducing short-form, animation, and drama production techniques using artificial intelligence (AI).

A total of 329 one-on-one export consultations

Indian content companies from various fields—including broadcasting, over-the-top (OTT) services, content production and distribution, IP licensing, animation and characters, and games—participated in the event’s core program of one-on-one export consultations. KOCCA identified the areas of interest and cooperation needs of participating companies in advance and arranged a total of 329 one-on-one business consultation opportunities.
In particular, KOCCA identified local companies’ interest and demand for cooperation through the IP pitching program and connected them with one-on-one consultations. It also strengthened links between the programs so that cooperation details developed during the process could lead to follow-up negotiations and contracts. Including these outcomes, the three-day event recorded 329 export consultations worth $28.81 million (approximately 39.2 billion won, based on an exchange rate of 1,360 won per dollar).
Meanwhile, KOCCA’s India Business Center has continued to expand its foundation for cooperation with local buyers to help Korean content companies enter the Indian market. In particular, it carried connections with local companies established at KOR–IND K-Content BizCon 2026, held in Mumbai in May, through to this event, leading to follow-up consultations and contract discussions.
