"Expanding Export and Domestic Sales Channels": GMES 2026 Opens in Wonju

【Financial News Wonju = Kim Ki-seop】 Gangwon Medical Equipment Show 2026, the leading export event for Gangwon’s medical-device industry, opened in Wonju on the 3rd.
According to the Wonju Medical Device Industry Promotion Agency on the 3rd, the 22nd Gangwon Medical Equipment Show 2026 will be held from that day through the 4th at the first and second floors of the permanent exhibition hall at the Wonju Medical Device Comprehensive Support Center. The exhibition is hosted by Gangwon State and Wonju and jointly organized by the Wonju Medical Device Industry Promotion Agency, the Gangwon office of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), and the National Health Insurance Service (NHIS).
For its 22nd edition, the event has attracted 147 companies and institutions from Korea and abroad, while around 140 domestic and international buyers have been invited. Participants will showcase medical-device products and technologies and hold consultations aimed at expanding export and domestic sales channels.
This year, advance online consultations, on-site one-on-one export consultations, dinners, and networking events have been linked together to promote continued interaction between overseas buyers and participating companies. Follow-up consultations will also be supported after the exhibition ends, helping turn discussions into actual export contracts. To expand domestic sales channels, medical staff and purchasing managers from hospitals and clinics, hospital-supply distributors, and medical-device distributors have been invited, creating more opportunities for product promotion and purchasing and distribution consultations.
Four mobile hospital vehicles are on display in the second-floor parking area, showcasing advanced medical technologies designed to respond to emergency situations such as infectious diseases and large-scale disasters. The vehicles are equipped with medical systems capable of providing examinations and treatment, as well as operating operating rooms and intensive care units. Under normal circumstances, they are used for mobile medical services in medically underserved areas.
The event also features a medical-device regulatory-affairs forum, a traveling regional bio caravan, and an Export Plus discussion session to help companies address licensing and regulatory requirements and resolve export-related difficulties. Experience programs for general visitors include hands-on medical-device demonstrations, four-photo self-portraits, an AI drawing robot, and AI perfume making.
Kim Young-sung, president of the Wonju Medical Device Industry Promotion Agency, stated, "This is a platform for introducing advanced technologies such as mobile hospital vehicles and artificial-intelligence-based products to domestic and international markets and opening up new business opportunities." He added, "We will help ensure that meetings between companies and buyers, from advance consultations through post-exhibition follow-up discussions, lead to actual contracts and expanded sales channels."
