Kim Seok-bong, Citi Securities Vice President, to Become Morgan Stanley Korea IB Co-Head in December [fn Market Watch]

[Financial News] Kim Seok-bong, a vice president at Citigroup Global Markets Securities, will become co-head of Morgan Stanley’s investment banking (IB) business in Korea. He will form a two-person leadership team with Kim Se-won, who has led the organization alone since former Morgan Stanley Korea head Cho Sang-wook stepped down last year.
According to investment banking industry sources on the 3rd, Kim Seok-bong will begin work in December as chairman and co-head of Korea Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Yonsei University, an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and a doctorate in business administration from Korea University.
The new head, Kim Seok-bong, has worked on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions involving Woongjin Food, EQT AB’s acquisition of Douzone Bizon, Heo Jae-myung’s sale of Iljin Materials, Lotte Group’s sales of Lotte Card and Lotte Insurance, and SK hynix’s acquisition of Intel’s NAND flash business. More recently, he was involved in SK hynix’s issuance of American depositary receipts (ADRs) worth approximately 40 trillion won.
Cho Sang-wook, who led Morgan Stanley Korea’s IB business for more than 13 years, announced his resignation in May last year.
