According to KOTEC on the 3rd, this workshop was organized under the theme "The Era of Mega-Projects: Growth for All Completed Through Technology Finance" to review the current status of KOTEC's major policy implementations and explore future strategies.
At the workshop, presentations were given on the direction of institutional system reorganization for comprehensive support of the 'Third Venture Boom,' support programs for corporate succession and mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and financial support programs for R&D commercialization to promote the commercialization of government R&D outcomes.
On this day, Lee Kwang-jae, Chairman of the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts of the National Assembly, delivered a special lecture under the theme "A Country That Makes Its People Rich." Chairman Lee also exchanged various opinions with the attendees regarding securing AI sovereignty, restoring the growth ladder, technology valuation, M&A and technology transactions, and technology protection.
Kwon Hyung-taek, Chairman of KOTEC, emphasized, "It is KOTEC's role to translate the recovery trend of the domestic economy, driven by strong exports, into the growth of technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and venture companies." He added, "Especially during times of persistent domestic and international uncertainty, we must go beyond being a mere support institution and become a true partner that reaches out to companies first and shares in their difficulties."
Meanwhile, in the first half of this year, KOTEC expanded policy financial support, such as Intellectual Property (IP) guarantees and recovery support guarantees, to back the technology-led growth of deep tech companies in sectors like AI, bio, and semiconductors, as well as to support the re-challenges of those who have failed in their good faith. In the second half of the year, it also expanded its dedicated organization to strengthen specialized support functions for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and venture companies. Last July, it established the 'R&D Finance Department' to promote the commercialization of R&D results and the 'SME Technology Damage Calculation Center' to support technology protection and damage relief for SMEs.
