Man in His 50s Referred to Prosecutors Without Detention for Damaging Vehicle Carrying Jung Cheong-rae... “Impulsive Act”

According to police on the 3rd, Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station referred a man in his 50s, identified only as A, to prosecutors without detention on the 1st on suspicion of property damage.
A is accused of striking with his feet and an object the vehicle carrying Jung on July 20 at around 7 p.m. in front of the Democratic Party of Korea headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, as Jung was leaving a joint speech event for candidates in the preliminary primary for the party leadership race.
A voluntarily appeared at a police station the day after the incident and was questioned.
A police official said, “Because the tool used in the act was not identified, we applied the charge of simple property damage.” The official added, “Although we conducted a multifaceted investigation, including a forensic examination of his mobile phone, we found no significant evidence, such as involvement in a conspiracy or advance planning. We therefore determined that it was an impulsive act.”
The official also explained that it would be difficult to disclose whether A belonged to a particular political party or what motivated the act.
