【Financial News Jeju = Reporter Jeong Yong-bok】 The Jeju Tourism Organization is publicly recruiting one successor to a non-executive director whose term ends in October.
According to the Jeju Tourism Organization on the 3rd, its executive recommendation committee will publicly recruit one non-executive director for 15 days, from that day through the 17th. The recruitment is intended to select a successor to the current non-executive director whose term expires in October.
The newly appointed non-executive director will serve a three-year term. After the term ends, the director may be reappointed in one-year increments.
Although a non-executive director does not work full time, the position involves participating in major management decisions at the organization. The director reviews major projects and management strategies based on expertise in the tourism industry and the management of public enterprises.
The appointment comes amid changes in the management environment surrounding the Jeju Tourism Organization.
The Jeju Tourism Organization was recently included by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) among local public institutions subject to focused debt management for 2026. Accordingly, it must prepare and disclose a five-year financial debt-management plan containing measures to reduce debt and improve profitability.
At the same time, the organization is pursuing new projects, including the qualitative growth of Jeju tourism, diversification of overseas markets, expansion of stay-based tourism, and digital tourism services.
As calls grow for Jeju tourism to move away from a structure that is sensitive to external conditions such as air accessibility and domestic and international economic conditions, the role of a non-executive director with an understanding of public-enterprise management and the tourism industry is also expected to become more important.
The Jeju Tourism Organization is a local public enterprise invested in by Jeju Island. It was established to promote regional economic development through tourism, foster the tourism industry, and improve residents’ welfare.
The executive recommendation committee plans to evaluate applicants’ expertise, leadership, and ability to perform the duties before selecting and recommending a suitable candidate.
Detailed information on eligibility, required documents, and job requirements is available in the recruitment notices posted by the Jeju Tourism Organization, Jeju Island, and Clean Eye Job Plus, a recruitment-information website for local public institutions.
An official from the Jeju Tourism Organization’s executive recommendation committee said, "We are recruiting capable candidates with the expertise and leadership to contribute to the organization’s management," adding, "We will fairly select and recommend the right person to serve as an executive of a public enterprise."
