[Financial News] 7-Eleven will expand its lineup of the popular Japanese chocolate brand Tirol Choco to four varieties and increase supply by approximately threefold from last year. As demand for popular international desserts continues, the retailer is expanding its global sourcing product range.
According to industry sources on the 3rd, 7-Eleven has re-released Tirol Choco Injeolmi Mochi and Tirol Choco Choco Mochi, which were sold on a limited basis last year. It also added Tirol Choco Shine Muscat Tart in July and Tirol Choco Sweet Potato in late August, bringing the total lineup to four varieties.
Tirol is a chocolate brand that has been sold in Japan for more than 60 years. The Injeolmi Mochi and Choco Mochi products introduced by 7-Eleven last year sold out all 130,000 prepared units before two months had passed since their launch.
In addition to Tirol Choco, 7-Eleven is increasing supplies of globally sourced desserts. Ohayo Brûlée Milk, introduced this year, sold more than 350,000 units from July 22 to September 2, ranking first in sales in the global sourcing category during that period.
Fresh Choco Pie, which repeatedly sold out last winter, will also receive a supply of more than 200,000 units this month. The company plans to bring in approximately 600,000 additional units in November.
Yu Hayeon, a product planner (MD) on 7-Eleven’s global sourcing team, said, "The Tirol series is a signature global snack that has continued to receive requests for re-release from domestic consumers because of its proven popularity in Japan and its distinctive mochi texture. We will continue to focus our global sourcing capabilities on proactively discovering popular, buzzworthy foods from around the world so that consumers can easily experience them at their neighborhood convenience stores."
