Interior Minister: "Agencies to Be Relocated to Be Finalized in the Fourth Quarter This Year... MOFA and MOU Also Under Review"

[Financial News]  The government will review relocating the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and the Ministry of Unification (MOU) to Sejong City in line with the planned opening of the Presidential Office in Sejong City in 2029 and the completion of the National Assembly’s Sejong branch in 2033. Central administrative agencies in the Seoul metropolitan area that were not specifically mentioned, including the Financial Services Commission (FSC), have not been excluded from consideration. The government plans to finalize the agencies subject to relocation in the fourth quarter of this year.
Yun Ho-jung, minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS), said at a press conference on the government’s "relocation of administrative and public institutions and reform of public institution functions" on the 3rd regarding the relocation of MOFA and MOU, "The relocation will be reviewed to coincide with the timing of the Presidential Office’s move and the time when the legislative branch establishes a branch office as well." The government plans to complete construction of the Presidential Office in Sejong City in August 2029 and the National Assembly’s Sejong branch in 2033.
Minister Yun also explained that the fact that some central administrative agencies in the Seoul metropolitan area, including the FSC, were not specifically identified as relocation targets in the announcement did not mean they had been excluded. He added, "What I mean is that the relocation plan and the agencies subject to relocation will be finalized and officially announced during the fourth quarter."
