KEMCO’s Onsan Refinery Supports the Establishment of a Proactive Disaster and Emergency Response System in Ulsan

【Financial News Ulsan = Choi Soo-sang】 KEMCO’s Onsan Refinery is making a significant contribution to establishing a field-oriented system that protects Ulsan residents and enables rapid responses to various disasters and emergencies.
KEMCO’s Onsan Refinery announced on the 3rd that it had recently delivered KRW 230 million in funding to Ulsan Metropolitan City to establish a proactive disaster and emergency response system.
The Onsan Refinery explained that the support is particularly significant because it expands the scope of its social contribution activities from the existing one-off assistance provided after disasters to help with recovery, toward “proactive preparedness”—thoroughly equipping disaster sites with the necessary equipment and relief supplies during normal times.
The entire amount will be used to expand mobile, on-site disaster-response support infrastructure, centered on the Ulsan Metropolitan City Volunteer Center and the volunteer centers of the five districts and counties. The funds will be used to purchase eco-friendly electric vans equipped with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality for supplying power at disaster sites, as well as emergency relief supplies for displaced residents, including food and drinking water, and essential field equipment such as power banks and pop-up tents.
These vehicles and supplies will help operate disaster sites efficiently by providing displaced residents and on-site volunteers with the support they need in a timely manner from the early stages of a disaster.
Park Sung-woong, head of the Management Support Division at KEMCO’s Onsan Refinery, said, "Because it is difficult to predict when and where disasters and emergencies will occur, it is more important than anything to prepare thoroughly during normal times, before damage occurs." He added, "I hope this proactive support will provide citizens with the assistance they need quickly when a disaster occurs and make a practical contribution to minimizing the damage."
