Kim Il-pyeong, Former Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Executive, Named New CEO of LINA Insurance

[Financial News] Chubb Group announced on the 3rd that it had appointed Kim Il-pyeong, former vice president of Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, as the new CEO of LINA Insurance. His term begins on September 15.
Kim will oversee LINA Insurance’s overall management performance in Korea and report to Marcos Gunn, president of Chubb Group’s Asia-Pacific business.
Kim spent more than 30 years at Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, taking on various leadership roles across the non-life insurance business, including sales-channel strategy, underwriting and risk management. He is regarded as an insurance expert with extensive experience across the non-life insurance sector.
Marcos Gunn said, "The new CEO Kim has a deep understanding of the Korean insurance market, based on his professional underwriting capabilities, strategic channel expansion and experience in management innovation. Through his leadership, he will lead the strategic initiatives across LINA Insurance’s consumer insurance business and support the continued growth of its commercial insurance (P&C) business."
Former CEO Mo Jae-kyung will move to the position of CEO overseeing commercial insurance. Mo will be responsible for the operation and financial performance of the commercial insurance business while focusing on strengthening underwriting and product competitiveness and expanding the sales network.
Kim earned a bachelor’s degree in statistics from Korea University (KU) and a master’s degree in financial engineering from the graduate school of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).
