Jin Jong-oh to File Injunction Against Two-Year Suspension of Party Membership Rights

[Financial News] Jin Jong-oh, a People Power Party lawmaker who was given a two-year suspension of party membership rights by the Central Ethics Committee of the People Power Party, said on the 3rd, "I will file an injunction with the court this week seeking to suspend the effect of this disciplinary action."
Jin Jong-oh wrote on social media that day, "I will seek the court's judgment," making the statement.
Jin Jong-oh said, "This matter is not about political interpretation or an internal party political judgment. I will ask the court to assess it from a legal perspective: whether the grounds for discipline were sufficiently proven by objective facts and evidence; whether the conduct constitutes grounds for discipline under the party rules; whether the disciplinary process was conducted lawfully and fairly; and, furthermore, whether the two-year suspension of party membership rights is proportionate and reasonable in relation to the grounds for discipline."
He continued, "I believe that the more serious the disciplinary action and the greater the restriction on rights it entails, the more strictly its basis, procedure, and reasonableness must be reviewed. I will have the facts judged as facts, the evidence as evidence, and the procedure as procedure, in accordance with the law and principles," he wrote.
Jin Jong-oh was previously referred to the ethics committee for supporting independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon in the June 3 by-election in the Busan Buk-gu-gap constituency. A separate disciplinary procedure was also initiated over his joking response to lawmaker Seo Beom-su at a meeting attended by a victim of the Busan Roundhouse Kick Case. When Seo said, "Try a roundhouse kick," Jin replied, "I'm better with my hands than my feet."
