[Financial News] Soop is stepping up efforts to broaden streamers’ fields of activity by expanding collaborations with external partners, ranging from figures in broadcasting and entertainment to companies, local governments and brands. The strategy is to diversify streamers’ platforms beyond online broadcasting into performances, on-site content and live commerce.
According to industry sources on the 3rd, Soop has been expanding streamers’ fields of activity by releasing content that connects them with figures from broadcasting and entertainment, including comedians and singers. It is also working with the Korea Broadcasting Comedians Association to support comedians’ activities on the platform.
On Soop, Park Seong-ho, Joon Park and Lee Gwang-seop have presented live comedy content with streamers, including ‘Sseolpisode,’ ‘Tteoksang-gak’ and ‘Pungsunga Hakdang.’ In August, Soop participated as an official partner of the Busan International Comedy Festival (BICF) and released on-site content featuring comedians and streamers. In music, it held the music audition program ‘Amuso X’ with singer Noel in May and released a collaborative track.
Spaces and regions owned by companies and local governments are also being used as broadcasting stages. After signing a business agreement with Seoul Land, Soop has been producing travel and exploration content in which streamers visit the theme park and introduce activities such as busking, treasure hunts and mini-car competitions. It has also produced content with local governments, including Hwacheon County and Geumsan County, introducing local tourist attractions, festivals and commercial districts. Streamers experience the sites firsthand and communicate with users, while local governments promote their culture and attractions through live content.
Live commerce linked to brands is also expanding. Through its own commerce platform, ‘Soop Store,’ Soop enables streamers to introduce products, communicate with users in real time and sell items. In the live-commerce promotion ‘Please Take Care of Commerce,’ held in August, it connected streamers with six brands, including Saboten, Ohuui Hongcha, Kang Gojip, Grocery Seoul, Gwangcheon Byeolmat Gim and Minimelts. Participating streamers introduce and sell the products, then receive a share of revenue based on their sales performance.
Soop plans to continue expanding streamers’ fields of activity into content production, performances, on-site activities and commerce through collaborations with external partners. The company aims to create an environment in which content activities lead to streamers’ growth and new revenue opportunities.
