Busan Metropolitan City Government and the Busan Institute of Technology Startup and Investment announced that they will hold the ‘2026 Bunicorn Pitch Day’ at the Busan Port International Exhibition and Convention Center on the afternoon of the 3rd.
The event combines demo days that had previously been operated separately under individual startup-support programs. It was designed to share the participating companies’ achievements and expand investment opportunities through meetings with investors.
Bunicorn is a name combining Busan and unicorn, and the city is nurturing startups according to their stages of growth. Promising prospective entrepreneurs are classified and supported as ‘Bunicorn Seed,’ early-stage startups as ‘Bunicorn Build,’ companies entering a takeoff phase as ‘Bunicorn Boost,’ and promising high-growth companies as ‘Bunicorn.’
Since selecting a total of 150 companies by growth stage in March, the Bunicorn program has conducted various initiatives, including business-model enhancement and investment-capability development. Following preliminary evaluations for the Bunicorn Pitch Day, a total of 34 companies were selected for the main event.
Among them, five Bunicorn Boost companies and three Bunicorn companies—eight in total—will make public investment pitches on stage. They will present their business achievements and future growth strategies to investors. Outstanding companies selected through evaluation will receive differentiated commercialization funding, along with follow-up support to help turn their plans into actual businesses.
In addition, a ‘one-on-one tailored investment consultation’ will be held concurrently on the day of the event to help Bunicorn companies secure actual investment. Major accelerators and venture capital firms from the Seoul metropolitan area will participate, conducting close one-on-one investment consultations lasting 35 minutes with companies matched in advance.
A city official said, "Through this event, we will go beyond showcasing the achievements of local startups and expand opportunities for meetings with investors to lead to actual investment and business cooperation. We will continue providing support so that companies with strong growth potential can grow into businesses representing Busan." The official added, "We will support companies in presenting their achievements to investors and in turning one-on-one investment consultations and meetups into tangible outcomes, including actual investment."
