Lutnick: "Export Controls Unlikely to Be on U.S.-China Summit Agenda"

[Financial News] U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick said the issue of U.S. export controls on China was unlikely to be discussed at the U.S.-China summit scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C., later this month.
In an interview with U.S. business network CNBC on the 2nd (local time), Lutnick was asked whether easing export controls would be included on the agenda. He replied, "It will not be."
Lutnick said President Donald Trump had offered to sell China certain chips, but "the Chinese did not accept it."
He added, "The Chinese are worried about all sorts of things. They did not buy the chips."
He continued, "I don't think it is necessary because it would not achieve the purpose originally intended."
He said, "President Trump extended an olive branch, but they did not accept it."
