[Financial News] Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won said on the 3rd that he felt wronged over the controversial allegations that he lobbied the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.
Meeting with reporters on his first day reporting to the confirmation hearing preparation team’s office at the Jeokseon Hyundai Building in Jongno District, Seoul, that morning, Kim said, "Starting in 2021, the prosecution mobilized more than a dozen prosecutors for several years to conduct an intensive, exhaustive investigation, but decided not to indict me."
He emphasized, "They should have cleared me of the allegations, but I also believe it was unjust to defer prosecution simply because I introduced a way to make a donation."
He added, "Last year, I filed a constitutional complaint against the deferred prosecution decision, and I understand that the court is reviewing the case. I want to clear my name and resolve that grievance to the end."
