LG Uplus Corp. announced on the 3rd that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korea Institute for Healthy Family to strengthen the digital capabilities of multicultural families and single-person households. The Korea Institute for Healthy Family is a public institution under the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and supports 244 family centers nationwide.
LG Uplus Corp. plans to operate smartphone and AI utilization training, voice phishing and smishing prevention education, and digital competency enhancement programs at family centers nationwide. To this end, it will provide IT educational equipment such as smart TVs, laptops, and tablets, and assist with the operation of digital education programs and the establishment of educational infrastructure at family centers. It will also pursue joint promotion and the identification of best practices to spread a culture of digital inclusion.
The plan is to bridge the digital divide for digitally vulnerable groups, such as multicultural families, marriage immigrants, foreigners, and single-person households, and to establish a safe digital usage environment based on the nationwide network of the Korea Institute for Healthy Family.
This agreement was driven by the achievements of the digital education program LG Uplus Corp. conducted with Family Centers this year. LG Uplus Corp. provided education on smartphone usage, generative AI practice, and voice phishing prevention to multicultural families and marriage immigrants at Family Centers in Ansan-si, Gwangmyeong-si, and Hwaseong. A total of 103 people participated in the training, recording an average satisfaction score of 4.6 out of 5. The participating Family Centers also agreed on the need to expand digital education and expressed their intention to continue operating the program.
"We will work with the Korea Institute for Healthy Family to increase information accessibility for digitally vulnerable groups, such as multicultural families and single-person households, and expand support so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of digital technology," said Joo Yong-han, Head of Consumer HR at LG Uplus Corp.
