Hoengseong Deodeok Festival Opens on the 11th with Deodeok Bibimbap Performance and Digging Experience

【Financial News Hoengseong = Kim Ki-seop】The 13th Hoengseong Deodeok Festival, celebrating the aroma and flavor of Hoengseong’s premium deodeok, will take place from the 11th to the 13th at the Nonggeori Festival Grounds in Cheongil-myeon.
According to Hoengseong County on the 3rd, this year’s festival, held under the theme “The Fragrant Scent of Deodeok and Laughter All Around,” features a wide range of programs designed to showcase the excellence of Hoengseong deodeok and provide visitors with a multisensory experience. At the opening ceremony on the 11th, visitors will take part in a large-scale deodeok bibimbap performance celebrating unity, along with a commemorative concert. The Deodeok Olympics will add a unique element of fun, while the deodeok-digging experience will give visitors the chance to harvest deodeok themselves, creating special memories for families. Food offerings will continue with free tastings of fried deodeok and deodeok injeolmi made by pounding rice cakes with a mallet.
The festival will also feature a special stage designed to bring vitality to the local community. Students from rural schools facing the threat of closure due to declining school-age populations will take center stage and perform shows they prepared themselves. The Cheongil-myeon Kkumsaemteo Children’s Choir, along with band performances by students from Cheongil Elementary School, Chundang Elementary School and Cheongil Middle School, as well as a dance performance by Cheongil Elementary School students, are expected to deliver messages of emotion and hope to festivalgoers.
Kwon Sun-hwa, chair of the Hoengseong Deodeok Festival Committee, said, "The residents and students have worked together to prepare these stages with great care, so please savor deodeok’s rich aroma and flavor while supporting the children’s pure enthusiasm." Kwon added, "The Nonggeori Festival Grounds in Cheongil-myeon will be a place for the whole family to enjoy over the three days."
