【Financial News Chuncheon = Kim Ki-seop】Gangwon State is seeking ways to address regional issues, including data centers, disaster response and defense drones, through artificial intelligence.
According to Gangwon State on the 3rd, the Gangwon Edition of the AI Future Forum will be held at 2 p.m. on the 7th at the 60th Anniversary Memorial Hall of Kangwon National University’s Chuncheon Campus under the theme “Solving Gangwon’s Problems with AI.” Co-hosted by the National Coalition for the Realization of a Righteous Science and Technology Society and Kangwon National University, the forum will go beyond simply introducing artificial intelligence technologies. It will focus on strategies tailored to Gangwon, including the construction of a Gangwon-style AI data center, AI-based disaster response and the development of the defense drone industry.
In the first presentation, Suyong Lee, a director at NAVER Cloud, will introduce strategies for building a Gangwon-style AI data center and developing related industries. Kyungnam Kim, a senior research fellow at the Gangwon Research Institute, will then present ways to overcome disasters using artificial intelligence, while Hee-hwan Kim, head of the Planning Support Division at the Korea Combat Training Center (KCTC), will propose measures to develop future industries centered on defense drones. The talk concert will bring together Kangwon National University, Gangwon Techno Park, NAVER Cloud, Republic of Korea Army Headquarters, The PICT and Geomax Soft to discuss how artificial intelligence can be connected to Gangwon’s industries and policies.
The event is jointly hosted by Gangwon State, Kangwon National University and the AI Future Forum of the National Coalition for the Realization of a Righteous Science and Technology Society, and organized by the Gangwon Research Institute and Gangwon Techno Park. About 150 people, including representatives of local companies, military units, students and residents, are expected to attend. Any Gangwon resident interested in the event may participate by registering in advance. Gangwon State plans to use the forum to develop a concrete Gangwon-style AI application model encompassing data centers, disaster safety and the defense industry, while expanding AI adoption among local companies and industry-academia-military cooperation.
Young-sun Han, director of the Gangwon State Industrial Bureau, said, “This is a meaningful opportunity to connect artificial intelligence with Gangwon’s real-world problems and industries.” Han added, “We will use the proposals emerging from the forum as a milestone for the development of Gangwon’s AI industry and the resolution of regional issues.”
