"YouTuber in His 20s Gets Two-Year Sentence for Tattoo Promoting Drug King: 'I Was Paid 5 Million Won'"

[Financial News] A YouTuber in his 20s who had a Telegram account selling drugs tattooed on his forehead to promote it and was paid for doing so has been sentenced to prison.
According to News 1 and other outlets on the 2nd, Seo Young-woo, a judge at the Seoul Southern District Court, sentenced A, 29, to two years in prison after he was indicted on charges including violating the Narcotics Control Act.
The court also ordered A to forfeit 11,273,310 won.
A was indicted on charges of promoting a drug-selling account by having the words "Drug King Telegram inquiries" tattooed on his forehead, along with a tattoo of the account, and receiving money in return.
He was also charged with promoting information about illegal online gambling sites through the internet and other channels.
A was known as a YouTuber who promoted illegal pornography and gambling sites online and received donations. He was also reportedly said on a YouTube broadcast last September, "I received 5 million won for promoting it through this tattoo."
The court noted, "The defendant used his influence as an online broadcaster with more than 12,000 subscribers to post illegal gambling site information and illegal information related to narcotics. The impact was substantial, making his culpability serious, and he also has a history of drug use." It explained the sentencing rationale, saying, "Considering that the means of committing the offenses were unusual, as well as their distinctive and persistent nature, his culpability cannot be considered minor."
