U.S.-China Summit to Be Held in Washington on the 24th

[Financial News] Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to the United States and the U.S.-China summit are expected to take place as scheduled on the 24th (local time).
U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters in the Oval Office at the White House on the 2nd (local time), "The Chinese president is scheduled to visit on the 24th," adding, "It is something I am really looking forward to, and I am very pleased to have invited him."
He continued, "We have many good issues to discuss. They are very, very productive issues to discuss with President Xi."
Xi Jinping’s visit to the United States would come about three years after his last visit in November 2023. It would also be his first trip to Washington, D.C., since the Nuclear Security Summit in April 2016.
Xi Jinping’s visit was arranged following Donald Trump’s visit to Beijing in May. Donald Trump said at the time, as he concluded his trip to China, that he had invited Xi Jinping to the White House on September 24, and he also mentioned the date in July.
The Chinese government has not yet officially announced Xi Jinping’s schedule for his visit to the United States. However, with Donald Trump reiterating the date, the U.S.-China summit is expected to proceed as scheduled.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump expressed interest in meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin, but made it conditional on the war in Ukraine ending.
Asked whether he planned to meet Vladimir Putin again in the near future, he replied, "I would like to do it when we are ready to make a peace agreement."
He added, "We want to have good relations with all countries, including Russia and Ukraine. It would be a great help to business," and continued, "I want to hold the meeting when the war is over, and I think that will happen."
