Fifth-Grade Girl Grabs Teacher by the Hair and Kicks Her; Teacher Leaves School Early and Goes to Hospital

[Financial News] Education authorities have launched an investigation after a fifth-grade student at an elementary school in Cheongju allegedly grabbed a teacher by the hair and punched and kicked her.
According to education authorities and others on the 2nd, Student A allegedly assaulted Teacher B in a fifth-grade classroom at an elementary school in Cheongju at around 8:40 a.m. that day.
Video footage of the incident shows Student A suddenly rushing at Teacher B, who was standing at the front of the classroom, and kicking her.
Student A grabbed both arms of Teacher B, who was trying to restrain her, and dragged her toward the back of the classroom. She then kicked Teacher B and punched her in the head and face. Student A also grabbed Teacher B by the hair and pulled it.
The day before the incident, Student A allegedly swore at Teacher B, complaining that the test paper she had received was dirty. She is believed to have assaulted the teacher after Teacher B instructed her to retake the test that day.
Student A reportedly continued the assault while swearing at the vice principal and another teacher who tried to restrain her. Teacher B is said to have left school early and gone to a hospital as a result.
Student A reportedly suffers from emotional instability and had previously displayed verbal abuse and aggressive behavior toward several teachers and students. She had been taking medication related to bipolar disorder, but a parent recently stopped administering it without authorization. The school reportedly asked Student A’s parents last week to resume administering the medication and help manage her excessive behavior.
Education authorities plan to implement emergency measures, including immediately separating the student who allegedly committed the assault and suspending her from school attendance. They will also provide support to protect the affected teacher and counseling to help stabilize the students in the class. An official from the Chungbuk Provincial Office of Education said, "We plan to actively provide the necessary support to help the affected teacher recover and continue educational activities safely."
