"Iran Launches Cyberattacks on U.S. Energy, Water and Telecommunications Infrastructure"

Iran is reportedly mobilizing hackers to attempt cyberattacks against energy, water and telecommunications infrastructure on the U.S. mainland. Further attacks have also been threatened.
As hostilities resumed after a lull of more than a month, following a U.S. military strike on two Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) missile launchers on Larak Island, concerns have emerged over possible cyberattacks against the U.S. mainland.
NBC News reported on the 2nd, citing four sources, that Iranian hackers had attempted cyberattacks in recent weeks against U.S. municipal water systems, telecommunications networks, energy facilities and other infrastructure. The targets were internet-connected automated systems.
The attempts have reportedly continued, although none has succeeded so far.
A Telegram channel said to represent Iran's cyber operations threatened new cyberattacks against the U.S. mainland.
The group, called "APT Iran," warned, "The United States will soon witness unexpected major incidents in the energy, water and telecommunications sectors."
Cybersecurity experts warned that Iran's cyberwarfare and espionage activities are intensifying. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is investigating cyberattacks on local water supply systems in at least seven states last July.
