[Financial News] Family medicine specialist and entrepreneur Esther Lyuh has revealed the hygiene habits of her husband, former physician and television personality Hong Hye-geol.
Hong Hye-geol and Esther Lyuh appeared on KBS2's "Problem Child in House," which aired on the first.
On the show, the couple shared an update on having moved back in together after five years apart. Asked how she felt about living together again, Esther Lyuh hesitated briefly before saying, "I'm glad we're living together again. For starters, I don't think we should share a room, and I wish he wouldn't come into my bathroom."
Esther Lyuh also opened up about Hong Hye-geol's usual hygiene habits. She said, "My husband uses three towels after showering and throws all the used towels on the floor. Because they're damp, mold grows."
She continued to complain about his bathroom habits. Esther Lyuh said, "None of the toilet lids in the house are closed. Even after urinating for 33 years, my husband still doesn't flush," shocking the other cast members.
Hong Hye-geol responded, "It's purely a habit. Of course I flush after a bowel movement. I've never flushed after urinating," adding, "Urine is sterile. It's not harmful."
The hosts were dumbfounded by Hong Hye-geol's response and asked, "So that's why you don't flush?" He cited frugality and thrift as the reason he does not flush.
Hong Hye-geol also expressed his frustration over Esther Lyuh's criticism of his towel use. He said, "My wife is despicable. What has she ever done for me? Our housekeeper does everything."
The couple also revealed that they had never kissed even once in 33 years. Esther Lyuh said, "We're both sensitive about oral hygiene," adding, "If I try to drink Hong Hye-geol's coffee after eating kimchi, he won't even let me touch the straw."
Esther Lyuh and Hong Hye-geol are alumni of Seoul National University College of Medicine, with Hong Hye-geol one year ahead of Esther Lyuh. They married in 1994 and have two sons.
