Jeju National University Hospital Strengthens Safety System for ‘Zero Serious Accidents,’ Formalizes Preventive Responsibility for All Staff

【Financial News Jeju Province=Reporter Yong-bok Jeong】 Jeju National University Hospital is strengthening its on-site safety management system to prevent serious accidents, placing the safety and health of its employees among its top management priorities.
According to Jeju National University Hospital on the 2nd, the hospital held the “2026 Safety and Health Management Policy Declaration Ceremony” that day in the first-floor lobby of its main building under the theme, “Make My Workplace Safe, Make Tomorrow Happier.”
The declaration was organized to protect employees’ safety as well, taking into account the characteristics of medical workplaces that handle patients’ lives and health, and to incorporate serious-accident prevention activities into the hospital’s routine operating system.
Jeju National University Hospital decided to establish a safety and health management system by actively gathering the opinions of employees and stakeholders and cooperating with them, while treating compliance with relevant safety and health laws and regulations as a basic requirement.
The key focus is proactive management of on-site hazards. The hospital will continuously identify and improve hazards by department and task, while establishing and implementing safety and health objectives. Inspection results will be fed back into the safety management process to reduce recurring hazards and prevent in advance the possibility that they could lead to serious accidents.
The roles of all employees have also been clearly defined. Every employee is required to comply with safety and health policies and rules, participate in related activities, and fulfill their responsibilities and obligations regarding safety in their respective duties.
The hospital plans to expand its safety management system beyond internal employees to include patients, visitors, partner companies, and other stakeholders who use the hospital or participate in its operations.
As a regional hub hospital providing essential and public healthcare, Jeju National University Hospital considers securing both a safe working environment and a safe care environment to be a social responsibility of public medical institutions.
Following the declaration, Jeju National University Hospital plans to continue strengthening field-oriented safety inspections, hazard improvements, and employee-participatory prevention activities. It will also regularly verify whether its safety and health objectives are being achieved and link the results to improvement initiatives.
Won Young Jang, director of Jeju National University Hospital, said, “As a hospital is a place that protects patients’ lives and health, safety and health must be the top priorities.” He added, “We will further strengthen our safety and health management system by preventing every risk factor, no matter how small, without overlooking it.”
