[Financial News] Lotte Chilsung Beverage’s signature rice wine used for ancestral rites, Baekhwasubok, saw annual sales of its 180ml small-size product, Baekhwasubok One Cup, surge 100% year on year last year.
According to Lotte Chilsung Beverage on the 3rd, the product recorded this growth thanks to various marketing initiatives, including a pop-up event targeting consumers at Samjin Pocha in Gwangalli, Busan, last year.
Baekhwasubok, whose name means “Live long and enjoy blessings,” has a long 82-year history since its launch in 1945. It is made with 100% domestically grown rice that is milled by about 30% before use. Low-temperature fermentation and aging methods bring out the characteristically smooth and clean taste of refined rice wine.
Baekhwasubok is an ideal choice for ancestral rites honoring one’s forebears or as a holiday gift.
Baekhwasubok One Cup, the 180ml small-size version of Baekhwasubok, has been expanding its consumer base among younger customers, recording average annual growth of about 50% over the past three years.
A Lotte Chilsung Beverage representative said, “Baekhwasubok, with its 82-year tradition, is a refined rice wine carefully made from selected rice, just as our ancestors used to make it. Sales appear to have increased because it is reasonably priced at around 10,000 won and pairs well with food served during ancestral rites, making it ideal for enjoying with family members who have gathered after a long time.”
