'Jeju Go' Dan Koh Clears Hurdle in Race for U.S. House Seat

[Financial News] Korean American politician Dan Koh, 41, won the Democratic Party primary for the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
Politico noted on the first local time that Koh's victory was a rare case in which a candidate prominently featured the Joe Biden administration in his campaign, as Democratic candidates have been distancing themselves from the administration even in their party strongholds.
Koh had already emerged as the front-runner in the five-way primary in Massachusetts's 6th Congressional District after raising the most money among the candidates. The seat had been vacated by Representative Seth Moulton, who left to run for the Senate.
Following his father, he uses the surname of the Jeju Go clan. His grandfather, who was from Jeju Island, worked at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the United States. He was born to a father who settled in the United States and a Lebanese mother.
Koh worked in the Boston mayor's office and the Joe Biden White House. After graduating from Harvard University, he ran in 2018 for the U.S. House seat representing his home district, Massachusetts's 3rd Congressional District, but lost in the Democratic Party primary.
