Japanese Next-Generation Energy Company Seeks Green Energy Cooperation with Ulsan Port Authority

【Financial News Ulsan = Choi Soo-sang】 Japan’s Akita Next-Generation Energy Consortium (ANEC) visited Ulsan Port Authority (UPA) on July 2 to explore cooperation and exchanges in the green energy sector.
ANEC is a public-private-academic partnership established in 2023. It is working to build a hydrogen and ammonia supply chain based on renewable energy in Akita Prefecture. When the consortium was established, a delegation led by the deputy governor of Akita Prefecture inspected the site of Bukshin Port in Ulsan. In March of the following year, Ulsan Port Authority and Akita Prefecture signed an agreement on linked cooperation.
Jae-young Byun, president of Ulsan Port Authority, personally received the delegation. The two sides shared and discussed the progress and plans for green energy projects at their respective ports.
Five people, including ANEC Secretary-General Shinichiro Mikuni and officials from Mitsubishi Corporation (Korea), also attended the meeting.
ANEC also delivered a letter from Akita Prefecture Governor Kenta Suzuki expressing a commitment to mutual cooperation. The two sides exchanged views on the possibility of maintaining continuous exchanges in the future.
Jae-young Byun, president of Ulsan Port Authority, said, "Ulsan Port and Akita Prefecture have in common that they are each pursuing the development of a next-generation energy supply chain based on their respective industrial and port infrastructure. We will continue identifying practical areas of cooperation where the two ports can share their experience and strengths and contribute to building a green energy supply chain in Northeast Asia."
