CJ Logistics Launches Operations at U.S. Elwood Logistics Center... "Expanding North American Supply Chain Hubs"

[Financial News] CJ Logistics announced on the 2nd that it has begun full-scale operations at the Elwood Logistics Center near Chicago, Illinois, which was developed in partnership with the Korea Ocean Business Corporation (KOBC).
The Elwood Logistics Center is located near Chicago, a logistics hub in the U.S. Midwest. With a total floor area of 102,775 square meters (approximately 31,089 pyeong), it is equivalent to about 14 soccer fields.
The center is equipped with 130 docks capable of simultaneously loading and unloading goods for large trucks. With an effective ceiling height of 12 meters, it is designed to store large quantities of inventory by utilizing vertical storage space.
Nearby are rail terminals operated by U.S. freight rail companies BNSF Railway and Union Pacific. By utilizing a multimodal transport network linking railways and major highways, deliveries to anywhere in the United States can be made within one to two days.
The Elwood Center is pursuing Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ) certification. An FTZ is a system under which the U.S. government applies special provisions to the storage, processing, and re-export of imported goods within designated areas. This allows products or parts to be imported and stored in advance, then processed and shipped according to actual orders and local demand.
CJ Logistics plans to develop the Elwood Center into a strategic hub supporting the North American supply chains of Korea's high-tech industries, including batteries. Previously, CJ Logistics established the Seacaucus Center in New Jersey, a joint logistics center developed with the Korea Ocean Business Corporation (KOBC).
Jonathan Song, head of CJ Logistics' Global Business Division, said, "The Elwood and Seacaucus centers are significant as strategic logistics infrastructure that effectively supports the North American supply chains of Korean companies locally," adding, "We will establish ourselves as a key supply chain partner based on the core logistics hubs we have secured in the U.S. Midwest and East Coast."
