Interior and Safety Minister on Busan Tugboat Capsizing: "Mobilize All-Out Efforts to Rescue People"

[Financial News]  Yun Ho-jung, minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, urged relevant agencies on the 2nd to respond to the tugboat capsizing near the Oryukdo Islets off Busan by saying, "The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the Korea Coast Guard, Busan, and Nam District, Busan, must immediately deploy all available equipment, personnel, and other resources to rescue people quickly and safely." He continued, "Closely inspect the weather and sea conditions in the accident area, manage the situation thoroughly to prevent a secondary accident, and pay particular attention to the safety of rescue personnel during the rescue operation."
Meanwhile, the Korea Coast Guard is struggling with rescue operations in the waters off Busan where the tugboat capsized because of high waves and other conditions. According to the Busan Coast Guard, at around 1:29 p.m. that day, the 286-ton tugboat A capsized approximately 9 kilometers southeast of the Oryukdo Islets in Busan. Eight crew members—six Koreans and two foreign nationals—were aboard tugboat A.
One of them was rescued by a cargo ship passing nearby, while another was found unconscious and was being transported by a coastal rescue boat operated by the Korea Coast Guard.
The Korea Coast Guard reported that waves and currents were making rescue operations difficult in the accident area. The wave height there is currently 1–1.5 meters, and northwesterly winds are blowing at 4–6 meters per second.
