LG Uplus said on the 2nd that it would begin emergency operations as approximately one million people are expected to visit the site from the 4th through the 5th during the Seoul International Fireworks Festival.
Ahead of the event, LG Uplus added mobile base stations and temporary equipment to secure wireless traffic capacity and carried out wireless network optimization. It also completed preliminary call-quality measurements and network inspections.
Specialized personnel will be deployed at the event site to check call quality and respond to outages. They will monitor telecommunications quality around the venue in real time and take immediate action if a problem occurs.
During the event, LG Uplus will operate a comprehensive control room at its Magok office building in Seoul and closely monitor equipment-specific traffic and wireless network quality around the clock.
In particular, the company plans to use the AI-based autonomous network operations platform 'AION' to respond proactively to base-station overload and automatically control traffic.
An LG Uplus official said, "As this is an event that will draw a large crowd, we will do our utmost to ensure that customers can use telecommunications services without inconvenience by strengthening preparations in advance and on-site response measures."
