Yeosu Love Gift Certificates to Be Accepted for Taxi Fares from the 17th; Yeosu Recruiting Affiliated Merchants

 According to Yeosu on the 2nd, the city plans to allow the Yeosu Love Gift Certificate to be used for taxi fare payments from the 17th to boost the local economy and improve transportation convenience for residents and tourists.
 To this end, Yeosu is working with relevant institutions, including card companies, the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation (KOMSCO), and taxi operators, to build the necessary system.
 In particular, QR-code payments will be introduced alongside card payments, allowing passengers to pay fares conveniently with just a smartphone. Since no fees are charged when the gift certificate is used via QR code, the system is also expected to reduce the burden on taxi operators.
 A Yeosu official emphasized, "The introduction of gift certificate payments for taxis will help ease residents' transportation costs and make spending more convenient for tourists."
 Yeosu is also urging taxi operators to participate actively and is providing guidance on the affiliated-merchant registration process. Taxi operators wishing to register can visit the Jeonnam Association of Private Taxi Transportation or the Economic and Jobs Division at Yeosu City Hall with their business registration certificate, a copy of their bankbook, and identification.
 The city is also explaining how to use the gift certificates according to their type. In addition to mobile and card-based gift certificates, paper Yeosu Love Gift Certificates can also be used to pay taxi fares. However, users should note that for a 10,000-won certificate, they must spend at least 8,000 won, or 80% of its face value, to receive the remaining balance in cash.
 A Yeosu official also said, "We ask taxi operators to actively register as affiliated merchants and participate to ensure smooth service operations."
