Hanwha Aerospace: "K9 to Expand Across Europe"—Commitment to Increase Exports to Western Europe

[Financial News] Hanwha Aerospace announced on the 2nd that it intends to expand K9 exports across Europe. The announcement follows the company’s recent success in securing an export contract with Spain.
Hanwha Aerospace said on LinkedIn that "the K9 family will advance across Europe and beyond, building on proven performance, reliability, and a global user community."
The company highlighted modular firepower systems based on self-propelled howitzers, including the K9A1, K9A2, and K9MH wheeled model. It explained that "the K9 SPH (self-propelled howitzer) platform continues to evolve to address changing operational environments and the diverse requirements of customers worldwide," adding that it "provides comprehensive artillery solutions centered on firepower, mobility, and operational support."
Hanwha Aerospace disclosed that it signed an export contract for K9 self-propelled howitzers with Spanish defense company Indra Sistemas on August 31. Industry observers view the deal as particularly significant because it marks the company’s first entry into Western Europe, a region home to advanced defense industries.
Based on Korea Exchange disclosure standards, the value of the Spanish order is estimated to exceed at least KRW 667.5 billion, as it represents 2.5% or more of the company’s latest revenue—KRW 26.7029 trillion in consolidated revenue last year. Spanish media reports indicate that the country’s artillery modernization program has a total value of KRW 7.7 trillion, raising expectations for additional orders.
