[Financial News] Anthropic, the developer of the artificial intelligence (AI) model Claude, has begun strengthening sales through its domestic partner channel. After selecting domestic resellers late last year and establishing a Seoul office this year, Anthropic has also secured personnel dedicated to partner sales. The company appears to be shifting its domestic business-to-business (B2B) operations to a systematic channel sales structure.
According to industry sources on the 2nd, Anthropic recently began recruiting personnel to oversee its partner channel in Korea. The role involves meeting quarterly partner sales targets by acquiring new customers and upselling existing ones. It also covers overall channel operations, including negotiating partner contracts, deal registration, onboarding, certification and training, and billing support.
Anthropic is reportedly known to have selected six companies, including LG CNS, Samsung SDS, NDS and Saltware, as domestic resellers. The latest hiring is viewed as a follow-up measure aimed at converting this partner base into sales. Anthropic has also said that the operating model it develops with its first partners in Korea could influence the operation of partner programs in other countries, signaling its intention to use Korea as an early validation market for its global partner program.
In May, Anthropic appointed KiYoung Choi, former head of Snowflake’s Korea operations, as its country representative for Korea. The company said Korea is one of the markets worldwide with the highest levels of Claude adoption. Its Korean organization plans to focus on partnerships with enterprises and startups, cooperation with the government and research institutions, and support for developer communities. Use cases are also increasing in Korea, with SK Telecom and Roan Company building services based on Claude.
Earlier, at the global level, Anthropic launched the Claude Partner Network in March and announced that it would invest $100 million this year in partner training, sales support and joint marketing.
Anthropic’s ties with Korean industry are also expanding into infrastructure. Samsung Electronics and SK hynix participated as “strategic infrastructure partners” in a $65 billion Series H funding round in May. In July, CEO Dario Amodei personally mentioned that the company had signed semiconductor supply agreements with both companies.
An industry official added, "Anthropic’s business pillars in Korea appear to be taking shape on multiple levels, from sales channels and a local organization to the semiconductor supply chain."
