【Financial News Ulsan = Reporter Choi Su-sang】 The “Ulsan Keunaegi” character, loved nationwide for its coy yet adorable image beyond Jung-gu, Ulsan, will meet people around the world through aircraft.
According to Jung-gu, Ulsan, on the 2nd, “Ulsan Keunaegi” characters will be placed as 15-centimeter-wide and 20-centimeter-high advertising and promotional stickers on the cabin windows of Air Busan aircraft operating domestic and international flights for two months from September to November.
The stickers were produced in five designs, including Ulsan Keunaegi making a finger heart, Ulsan Keunaegi from a traditional head family, and Ulsan Keunaegi cheering.
QR codes linking to Instagram were added to the stickers so passengers can easily check information on tourist attractions, festivals, and events in Jung-gu, Ulsan.
This type of marketing using passenger aircraft windows has previously been carried out in Gyeongju and Mungyeong, North Gyeongsang Province, while Jung-gu is the first district in Ulsan to adopt it. Other local governments in Ulsan are also currently considering the initiative.
The routes featuring Ulsan Keunaegi stickers are reportedly domestic routes such as Ulsan–Jeju and Busan–Jeju, as well as some international routes.
Meanwhile, Ulsan Keunaegi has won the affection of people nationwide, ranking first or second in national character popularity polls. Jung-gu uses the character in various areas, including tourism promotion, festivals and events, tourism product development, and the production of district promotional materials.
Kim Young-gil, head of Jung-gu, said, "I believe this will be a good opportunity to introduce Ulsan Keunaegi and the cultural and tourism resources of Jung-gu, Ulsan, in a friendly way to domestic and international travelers." He added, "We will continue to widely promote the appeal of Ulsan Keunaegi and Jung-gu, Ulsan, through various media."
