Jeju Samdasoo Development Corporation Wins Grand Prize in Customer Category at Human Rights Management Awards, Expands Remedies to Partner Companies

Jeju Province Development Corporation said on the 2nd that it received the grand prize in the customer category at the 1st 2026 Korea Human Rights Management Awards, organized by the Korean Association for Local Government Studies on August 28.
The Korea Human Rights Management Awards, established for the first time this year, were created to identify and promote examples of organizations that incorporate human rights values throughout their operations and create social value.
Jeju Province Development Corporation was recognized for expanding the scope of its human rights violation counseling and remedy procedures to partner companies and external stakeholders.
The corporation also increased the participation of external experts in the remedy process. The measure is intended to improve the objectivity and effectiveness of handling human rights violation cases by incorporating outside perspectives rather than relying solely on internal judgments.
The evaluation also reflected the corporation’s use of a human rights management index and human rights surveys to identify vulnerabilities within the organization and develop improvement measures. It focused on establishing a system that manages the human rights of not only employees but also stakeholders encountered throughout its business activities, including partner companies and the local community.
The corporation’s human rights management linked to its public projects was also cited as a reason for the award. It has pursued housing support for vulnerable groups, socially equitable hiring, and the creation of jobs that promote shared growth with the local community. It has also continued efforts to support payments to partner companies and prevent wage arrears.
The achievement is particularly significant because it expanded the scope of human rights management at a local public corporation beyond internal working conditions to stakeholders connected to its business activities, including housing welfare beneficiaries, job applicants receiving hiring support, and workers at partner companies.
Jeju Province Development Corporation is a local public corporation that operates the Jeju Samdasoo business alongside public-interest projects such as public housing. Because its business activities are closely connected to the lives of residents of Jeju Province, partner companies, and the local community, it plans to continue improving related systems so that human rights management functions effectively in the field.
