"Making Seoul City Hall a Night View Spot"... 'Sky Observatory' Opens at Night

[Financial News] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 2nd that it will extend the operating hours of the Sky Observatory, which previously ran until 6 p.m. on weekdays, to include additional openings on Fridays and Saturdays. According to the city, approximately 66,000 people visited the observatory during the eight weeks since its opening last July. The city explained, "Thanks to the enthusiastic response from citizens and tourists, we will extend operating hours until late at night on Fridays starting from the 4th, and also offer additional extended openings on Saturdays." Operating hours are until 10 p.m. during the summer and 9 p.m. during the winter.
The nighttime opening of the Sky Observatory is part of a project to expand Seoul City Hall, which has traditionally been perceived as an administrative and business space, into a place for citizens to enjoy the view and relaxation. The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to develop the site into a hub for "revitalizing the night economy" by integrating the observation space with night tours and landscape lighting, encouraging citizens and tourists to stay longer in the city center and enjoy nearby cultural and tourism resources.
In addition to this, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has decided to extend the operating hours of the Jeongdong Observatory on the 13th floor of Building 1 of the Seosomun Government Complex and the Sky Garden on the rooftop of the 5th floor of the Seoul Metropolitan Library. For the Jeongdong Observatory, operating hours on Fridays and Saturdays will be extended to 10 PM (9 PM during the winter), while the Sky Garden will be extended to 9 PM on Fridays and 6 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.
"We will continuously expand nighttime content so that citizens and tourists can visit City Hall without any burden and enjoy Seoul's night view and various lights," said Kwak Jong-bin, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government Administration Bureau.
