[Financial News] NC AI has launched Barco Sound, a generative artificial intelligence (AI) audio platform. The product is equipped with an AI agent that independently handles everything from sound generation to editing. It is expected to analyze creators’ intentions and actively coordinate the resulting output.
According to industry sources on the 2nd, Barco Sound is an integrated solution that automatically generates and edits individual audio assets needed to produce content such as games, videos, and animations. The official version incorporates feedback from domestic and overseas content producers and sound designers following the beta service’s launch in January. While enhancing overall audio-generation performance, NC AI also added new features requested in real-world creative settings to improve the platform’s practical usability.
The sound agent enables users to operate Barco Sound’s generation and editing tools through natural-language conversations. When users describe a desired task in text, the agent identifies their intent and automatically activates the appropriate functions. This allows beginners, including planners and developers without specialized knowledge, to carry out sound-related work more easily.
The variation feature, which modifies generated audio, has been improved to accurately reflect users’ explicit intentions. When creators enter a text prompt or provide specific reference audio, the AI immediately applies the relevant nuance to the sound and produces a new result.
The sound-generation model, a core technology, has also been upgraded. The AI analyzes movements and situations in an input video and generates multiple elements that make up events, including foley, sound effects (SFX), and ambience. In particular, the sounds are output as individually separated multitracks rather than being combined into a single file. Users can therefore directly control the final result by keeping or replacing only the tracks they need.
The automatic volume mixing feature adjusts the volume balance between tracks when multiple tracks play simultaneously, preventing specific sounds from being buried or becoming too prominent.
The maximum audio-generation limit has been expanded from 20 seconds to 60 seconds. NC AI plans to support video inputs of up to 120 seconds in the future, further enhancing the platform so it can handle the production of longer-form content without difficulty.
NC AI has also launched a dedicated desktop app and a Unity game engine plug-in to ensure smooth integration with existing work environments. Assets generated in the desktop app can be placed immediately in the digital audio workstation (DAW) being used through a simple drag-and-drop action, allowing creators to continue their workflow without cumbersome steps. The company plans to add natural-language- and audio-based personal library search functions in the future to improve convenience.
The Unity game engine plug-in has been listed as a “Verified Solution,” a designation for solutions whose usability and stability have been validated within the Unity ecosystem. Game developers can enter text or images within the engine to instantly generate the sounds they want, then use the accompanying simple editing tools to apply them directly to projects under development without delay.
All new service subscribers will receive 2,000 credits free of charge for sound generation and editing. During September, NC AI will also run a promotion under which subscribers can access both Barco Sound and Barco 3D when they pay for a subscription.
Yeonsu Lee, CEO of NC AI, said, "The official version of Barco Sound has evolved into a practical, customized AI platform that delivers optimal efficiency without disrupting creators’ workflows." Lee added, "We will continue to present a new paradigm for the audio-creation ecosystem through ongoing technological advancement and platform integration."
