[Financial News] Four out of 10 citizens who used the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Seoul Fitness Center twice were found to have improved their fitness grade compared with their first assessment. Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to expand the Seoul Fitness Center from the current 20 locations to 52 to support residents' ongoing fitness management. On the 2nd, Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that an analysis of fitness assessment data from 54,715 Seoul Fitness Center users showed that eight in 10 repeat users had improved or maintained their fitness level. The subjects were 54,715 people who used the Seoul Fitness Center from December 3 last year to July 31 this year.
Among all users, 5,035 people (9.2%) used the center twice, while 644 (1.2%) used it three times. In particular, 45.9% of those who used it twice (2,313 people) improved their fitness grade compared with their previous assessment, while 38.0% (1,911 people) maintained their existing grade.
Among those who used the center three times, 41.0% (264 people) improved their fitness grade compared with their immediately preceding assessment, while 41.5% (267 people) maintained their existing grade.
Users' physical activity also changed. In a usage survey conducted by Seoul Metropolitan Government from the 19th to the 25th of last month among 7,132 Seoul Fitness Center users, the amount of time spent on physical activity by those who had used the center once or twice rose by 23.3 minutes (35.8%), from 65 minutes to 88.3 minutes. Moderate-intensity physical activity increased by 18.7 minutes (43.8%), from 42.7 minutes to 61.4 minutes.
User satisfaction with the Seoul Fitness Center was also high. In the usage survey, 96.1% rated the facilities and assessment equipment at the fitness certification centers as "average or better," while 95.7% gave positive evaluations of staff responsiveness.
Based on this demand and the analysis results, Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to expand the Seoul Fitness Center into an ongoing fitness management service accessible close to residents' neighborhoods. First, it will increase the number of Seoul Fitness Center locations from the current 20 to 52 across 23 autonomous districts by the end of this year. Of these, 25 locations will be developed as AI Seoul Fitness Centers using artificial intelligence (AI).
Cho Young-chang, head of Seoul Metropolitan Government's Citizen Health Bureau, said, "This analysis confirmed the positive possibility that consistent fitness management can lead to improved fitness and increased physical activity in daily life." He added, "We will expand the Seoul Fitness Center so that all citizens can conveniently use it close to their neighborhoods."
Meanwhile, Seoul Metropolitan Government will operate a Seoul Fitness Center in the lobby on the first floor of Seoul City Hall's main building from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays during the first and third weeks of each month, starting on the 5th. A total of 20 Seoul Fitness Center fitness certification centers are currently operating in Gwangjin District, Songpa District, Yongsan District, Eunpyeong District, Seodaemun District and Seocho District, among others.
